The gaura is a herbaceous plant with spectacular flowers and a very long flowering period – practically throughout the summer and early autumn. Not very popular, but a very effective and completely winter-hardy plant for Bulgaria, which originates from North America. Forms a dense tuft with sharp green-tinged leaves, between which numerous white flowers appear on thin stems, butterfly-like. Very drought tolerant and withstands the greatest summer heat without any problems. It winters successfully in our country at temperatures down to -22°C, but to have no problems provide it with well-drained soil . In warmer climates, its leaves remain evergreen throughout the year. In our country, they fall completely at temperatures below zero in winter, but in early spring they immediately break out again from the rhizome. Use in the rock garden, as a single accent or in pots and planters.
