Agave represents a plant, which looks like a cactus. It grows in the wild wilderness of Central and South America, and its most popular use is to make the world-famous tequila.
Agave is the most common in Mexico and its neighboring areas, as well as the islands in the Caribbean Sea, South and Central America. It can also be found in the Mediterranean. In Europe, agave is imported from 17 century.
Although it looks very similar, agave is not cactus and has nothing to do with him. It belongs to the lily family, and now even has its own Agavaceae species, which includes in its composition more than 400 agave species.
