Berberis thunbergii Maria is slow growing, evergreen, broadleaf, a dwarf shrub with an upright habit. It is suitable both for hedges and for solitary planting.

Young leaves are reddish, then they turn golden-yellow. The leaves contrast the red stems, and in autumn they turn beautiful shades of red and orange.
