The Leyland Cypress, Cypress x leylandii, often called simply leylandii, is a fast-growing coniferous evergreen tree, much used in horticulture, mainly for hedges and sieves. Even in places with relatively poor culture, plants were known at a height of 15 meters (49 feet) for 16 years. Their fast, dense growth means, that they are sometimes used to achieve privacy, but such use may lead to disputes with neighbors, whose own property is overshadowed. The tree is a hybrid, almost always sterile, and is mainly propagated from cuttings.
