The plant likes sandy soils, grows mainly in coastal and swampy areas. It can be grown outdoors in countries with a Mediterranean climate. In Bulgaria it can be grown in pots, which during the winter period are brought into a cool room with a temperature of approx 10 degrees. In the warmer regions of the country, it can be grown outdoors in beds and rock gardens by mulching and covering in winter for protection. The plant is light-loving and needs a sunny place. Withstands high temperatures and drought. It is watered moderately, and in winter – scarce. It can live on any soil, including the poor, sandy or stony. Except as a ground cover, the plant can also be grown in hanging baskets. It also looks very beautiful in garden vases. It fits well in rock gardens and rock corners.
