Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana) is a species of fir family Pine trees (Pinaceae). Its crown is very dense, sometimes close to the base of the crown, and has a narrow conical shape. The needles are soft, medium length. This makes it suitable for yard and garden landscaping, landscaping of private villas and houses. At first the twigs are hairy, but after it grows a little they become smooth. The leaves are long from 2 to 4 cm flat, and at the top they are rounded or incised. They are dark green above, and below - lighter. Like the altitude, on which it grows well the maximum is up to 2000 m, and the minimum height, on which it can meet and develop well is 800 m. This type of fir is very shade tolerant, grows in shady places, but also likes sunny, airy places. Caucasian fir is not particularly demanding on soil conditions, it can grow on any soil, but it grows best in deep moist and fertile soils. It is a moderately cold-resistant species. It can withstand frosts and low temperatures of the order of -25 degrees.
