Lipa – (Tilia) – a genus of trees, which includes approx 40 the species. It is widespread in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere - Europe, Asia and eastern North America. Some species are wild. Linden trees reach a height of 20 to 40 meters, and their leaves are heart-shaped. They grow well in moist and shady places. The flowers look like small umbrellas with a yellowish color, they have a strong aroma and are used to make tea. The linden flower has a disinfectant effect, anti-inflammatory and diuretic action.

Usage
Linden tea is used for catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, laryngitis, tracheobronchitic and other temperature conditions. The tea has a mild diuretic effect and is suitable for diseases of the urinary tract. Decoction and decoction of linden are applied externally for gargling in diseases of the throat and oral cavity, and only the decoction is suitable for external application for burns, skin rashes, joint pains, inflamed hemorrhoids.

Small-leaved linden (Hearted linden trees) e tree high up to 20 m. The young twigs are hairy at first, but later – naked with small hazel eyes. The leaves are up to 10 cm, above dark green, bluish-green below with rusty hairs in the corners between the veins. The flowers are fragrant, the fruits are spherical friable nutlets. It is widespread in the forests and scrubs of the lower and middle altitude belt up to 1500 m n.v.. Valued as a medicinal plant,tea and bee forage!
