Magnolia Leonard Messel, Magnolia ‘Leonard Messel’

Magnolia x loebneri ‘Leonard Messel’ e hybrid, obtained from the crossing of Magnolia kobus and Magnolia stellata. It is wide, upright, a large bush with dense branches to a low tree. It often has more than one main stem or a single main stem, but low branched. With age, the crown develops asymmetrically, rounded and very picturesque. Reaches to 3-5 (6) m. in height and often more in width. The annual growth is about 25 cm. in height and 20 cm. in width. Deciduous type with rounded green leaves. Blooms before leafing with white to pale pink flowers, having a distinctive violet-pink central line on the outside. Flowering is very abundant and lasts from mid-April to May.
