Oleander “Petite Red”, (Nerium oleander Petite Red)

Petite Red is a dwarf oleander with deep reds ,simple flowers with dark purple stripes on the periphery of the petals. Very suitable for balconies and small terraces, due to its compactness.

This fast-growing evergreen shrub performs beautifully as a landscape plant, natural screen or planted along highway medians. Standard oleanders bloom in shades of red, pink and white, but other colors and varieties are available. The plants begin to bloom in early summer and continue until mid-autumn. Oleander flowers form 2″ flowers in large showy clusters on the plant's new growth. While their flowers don't actually provide nectar, they entice pollinators such as bees and moths to pollinate them. When the bushes don't bloom, their leathery green leaves are very attractive and give your landscape a tropical flair. Oleanders are usually evergreen, but may lose leaves or die back to the ground, when exposed to temperatures below 20 degrees F. Often the plants will wash away from the root zone, once the temperature warms up again in the spring. Oleanders can also handle radiant heat very well from nearby walls and pavements and are very drought tolerant. Oleanders can grow in a variety of soil types, but require good drainage. If you need to trim or shape the oleander, be sure to do it in early spring, to avoid losing flowers.
