Sage or sage is a low branching evergreen shrub, native to the Mediterranean. The leaves are elliptic, grey-green, rough and finely haired. Contains essential oil. The flowers are collected in simple spike-shaped inflorescences. A completely winter-hardy plant, if certain recommendations are followed when growing it. The plant is decorative with its silvery foliage and spectacular flowering. Variegated varieties of salvia are most often used for decorative purposes, although the basic type is not to be neglected.
