Spruce, Picea abies, 250/300 cm.

Spruce is a straight and slender tree. The bark of young stems is smooth, grey-green, and sometimes it turns gray-brown and cracks. Every year some needles fall off, and others grow anew. Spruce needles, unlike the pine ones, are shorter. Spruces are popular ornamental trees, because of its evergreen symmetrical oblong-conical crown. For the same reason some species, mostly common and Serbian spruce, are used as Christmas trees.
