The first golden infused smokebush, Cotinus coggygria Golden Spirit is large, deciduous shrub with a shaped, rounded, bushy habit. The leaves are almost round; they open bronze, they turn golden yellow, and in autumn they develop shades of red, orange and coral. Green flowers are individually insignificant, but they are carried in yellow streams, which rise above the bush like smoke, giving the plant its common name. A light bush, which needs some pruning, it looks especially good with bronze-leaved plants. Smoke bush Golden Spirit wins the RHS Award for Garden Merit.
